Leave 'em wanting more

What's more appealing?

Someone holding a carrot in front of your face, then pull it back towards them slowly?

Or someone shoving 50 carrots in your mouth?

Brian Eno (my favorite theorist) says the best thing you can do is to bring people to the point where they start searching.

Not so plain or obvious that there's nothing left to the imagination. Not so cryptic that they give up.

Give people just enough to pull them in, but make them want more. Make them go searching for clues, or details, or explanations, or “more of what you just gave me.”

Excellent articles. As for what to do at a conference you're right, I paid a lot, made a good contact, didn't follow up, I'm gonna jump on that right now!

As for leave 'em wanting more, I'm good at that, now I just need to get my new album done, before they get angry about waiting for more, ha ha!

As for teaching yourself HTML & PHP just to support other musicians and build a business out of your love for music, I'm with that man! I got a degree in computer science, but that mostly taught me about the theory behind the code, and how to write programs for use off of the internet. Back at my dorm room I was teaching myself HTML, javascript, and PHP, and ended up making a chat program and an instant download sales program that artists can use, instead of snocap, itunes, etc. (set their own prices, and make it look however they want). PHP is easier than all the others I've tried, and also more comprehensive.

Derek, this is great info. I'd like to hear more about the South by Southwest Conference.
